VALUE ADDED PROGRAMMES


Academic and co-curricular Activities

The college being an autonomous institution has freedom to design the curriculum on its own and hence in consultation with Industrial Experts and Professors of reputed institutions the curriculum of all the courses have been restructured, important subjects were included and the training to develop communication skill, Aptitude and other soft skills has been included in the curriculum itself. There is also a wide choice of subjects to be chosen as electives. In order to encourage the fast learners and to make them earn additional weightage, extra credit courses are also offered. Since the majority of the students hail from agricultural families, Floriculture and Food Science and Nutrition have been included under skill based programmes. To develop the students' body and mind, a Diploma in “Yoga for Human Excellence” is offered in addition to a paper on “Ethics and Culture”. In order to develop a research dent of mind among the students, they are encouraged to participate in seminars and conferences conducted in and outside the college and present articles.



Association and club activities

Each individual department has its association for conducting various programmes for the benefit of students. Thus we have Tamil Manram, English Language Forum, Mathematics Association-MAZE, Commerce Association-CARVE, Commerce(CA) Association-SKILL, PG Commerce(CA) Association – GALAXY, Business Administration Association – FUENTES, PG International Business Association – INGENUITAS, Computer Science Association – INFOTRIX, Information Technology Association – INNOVATIVE TECHNOCRACY and Computer Applications Association – TECH HORNET.

The Internal Quality Assurance cell of the college, in the beginning of every academic year, in consultation with all the faculty members and student representatives decide the activities to be conducted for that year with a view to develop the students attitude, skill and knowledge. Thus for developing positive attitude personality development programmes, for developing skills several programmes to train the students in soft skills through expert trainers and to develop knowledge a number of Guest lectures, Seminars, Conferences are conducted. All these programmes are arranged by the student office bearers of the association who are elected from among the representatives nominated for different classes by the Head of the Department. This gives them an opportunity to develop the organizational skill, leadership qualities and the quality to work in a group maintaining harmony.



Placement cell-Activities


The students graduating from KKCAS receive the best training for enhancing their communicative and other soft skills as per the requirements of the industries visiting the college for recruiting the students .The dedicated team of teachers who are the experts in different fields train them in communicative skills during the I year of their course ,aptitude and other soft skills during II year and technical skills during the III year and prepare them fully to face the campus placement interviews with confidence.

A placement cell is functioning effectively under the guidance of efficient placement officers who leave no stone unturned in liasoning with corporates and non corporates on a continuous basis in order to bring them to our institution for the purpose of conducting campus interviews. Due to their efforts, more than 30 companies have visited our campus and 180 (73%) students were placed in various MNC companies.

There is a Placement cell in the college which is very effectively functioning under the dynamic placement coordinator Dr.A.Krishnamoorthy and placement officer Mr.Karthikeyan. They arrange for various training programmes inviting the experts in the respective areas as required by the companies visiting the campus for recruiting the students. Training in communication skills starts during I year of the course itself, in aptitude and other soft skills during the second year and in the technical skills during the third year. At the end of the second year, during the summer vacation, a finishing school programme is conducted for a period of twenty five days in which HR Personnel from different companies, Professional trainers and Professors train the students in such a way that it brings about remarkable transformation in the minds of students and majority of the students who have undergone the training get placed in reputed companies.

TCS company, as a part of their social responsibility, has chosen our college to impart 100hours of free training to the students belonging to economically backward families under the name “Affirmative Action Training Programme” and after which recruits the students who are successful in the interview conducted.

Infosys has trained five of our teachers in Global Business Foundation skills who in turn would import training to the students for about 80hous to all the eligible students studying in the final year of the course.

By the untiring efforts of the placement officers, a number of reputed companies visit our campus for conducting interviews and recruiting students.



Extra Curricular Activities


In addition to Association for individual departments, we also have National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon Club, ECO Club, Citizen Consumer Club, Women Empowerment Club, Auditor's Club, Talkers Club,Sports Club, Fine Arts Club and Entrepreneurship Development cell.

Under NSS, a number of programmes such as, Campus cleaning work at nearby schools under Swachh Bharat Scheme, visiting orphanages and celebrating festivals with them, awareness rallies, Hundi cash counting work at Maruthamalai Temple, Free Medical Camps at nearby villages, personality development programme for NSS Volunteers, giving training to women belonging to SHG of Viraliyur in Jewel making, preparing thousands of tree saplings at Isha center, etc were organized.

Under Youth Red Cross, Blood donation camp is organised every year in the college and those students who volunteer are given training in First Aid and Certificates issued.

Under Red Ribbon Club, awareness programmes on infection of HIV and its effects, prevention of AIDS and the treatments available are conducted.

Under ECO Club, tree planting programmes in the nearby villages and schools, awareness on Global warming and its impact on agriculture and other sectors and the efforts to be taken to minimise it and the role of NSS volunteers in that, different types of pollution like air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution etc., and their prevention, avoiding the use of plastic bags, e-waste disposal etc are conducted.

Under Citizen Consumer Club, Lectures are arranged to make not only the students but all the people in the nearby villages aware of laws available for consumer protection, adulteration of various items, the procedure for approaching consumer courts, right to information Act etc..

Under Women Empowerment Club arrangements are made to take immediate action in case of complaint about stalking or misbehavior. Lectures are arranged to make the laws available for their protection and also about their rights. Guidance and Counseling are also provided to the students who are weak in studies and who have personal problems or who are mentally disturbed.

Under the Auditor's Club, arrangements are made to make the students aware of the professional courses like ACA, CMA, ACS and the procedure for applying for such courses. Internship is also arranged for the students with Auditors in order to have a first hand knowledge on the procedure followed in auditing.

The purpose with which the Talkers Club was started is to provide the students an opportunity to get trained in expressing themselves in English without fear or shyness or hesitation in the presence of the audience. The Club activities are designed to make the students to speak fluently in English with confidence and to adapt themselves to groups of all ages.

The responsibility of the sports club is to identify the talents of students in various sports and games, encourage them, give them training regularly with the help of Physical Directors of the college and motivate them to participate in various competitions held in and outside the college. It also takes up the responsibilities of organising Inter Collegiate competitions in the campus conducted by the Bharathiar University.

Under the Fine Arts Club, the students who possess some talent of singing , dancing, skit, drama, poem writing, acting, Indian martial Arts etc are identified and supported for developing further skills and to participate in various competitions.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell of our College creates an awareness among the students about the Entrepreneurship Development programmes as conceived by Government of India, its origin , development, uses, procedures, financial support provided, resources, marketing etc., particularly when “Start ups” are encouraged by the Government. If any of the students come forward to start his / their own business, such person/s are provided all kinds of support from the identification of products to be produced, market survey to the marketing of the product.



Yoga


A part of value based education Diploma programme in “YOGA for Human Excellence '' is offered to the students who wish to join voluntarily for which the certificate is issued by the Bharathiar University.

For healthy living and for the development of inner self “Kaya Kalpa” training is given to all women students in collaboration with Mana Vala Kalai Mandram and M/s Chennai Silks Coimbatore.



Finishing School


A finishing School is defined as “a private school” for students that emphasizes training in all round personality development, cultural and social activities. Specific Skill sets are imparted as value addition. The programme is conducted for I & II Year UG Students in our college during summer vacation. The HR personnel from various companies, professional trainers and professors well versed with imparting such training trains the students for a period of about 25 days. This kind of wonderful training brings about remarkable transformation in the minds of students and there is a tremendous boosting of their self confidence. More than 90% of students who participate in these training programmes are able to get selected with interviews conducted by companies. Bharathiar university introduced this innovative programme to all the colleges. Ours is the only college which continues to conduct this programme for the benefit of the students.
