About the Department

The department of physical education was started in the year 1996-1997. With well built infrastructures for both indoor and outdoor games, the entire area for this department sprawls to a whopping 5 acres of land. The department is headed by a Director of Physical Education who is assisted by a female Assistant Physical Director and two markers as supporting staff. Activities are carried out throughout the year from 8.30am to 6.30pm.

EVENTS

Every year we are conducting the Intramural and Extramural competitions.
Bharathiar University Inter collegiate Tournaments for various sports and games.
State level Inter school Tournament for Kalaimagal Trophy for various sports and games.
This tournament attracts all leading teams in the state and it inspires the inmates of Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science. This helps the youngsters to see their heroes in action. Every year this tournament is organized during First semester. This tournament is completely organized by our students which give them an excellent opportunity to develop their leadership qualities and managerial skills. Facilities in our campus for sports provide an arena for associations to have a better rapport with our college and this enables us to conduct State level and National level tournaments successfully.

ACTIVITIES

In our College we have good teams in all disciplines. We provide uniforms and track suits and various other accessories for all the players who represent our college. Our annual record will reflect the team’s strength and their position in our university. We also encourage girls to a great extent to participate in various sports programmes. We also encourage and recognize the students who attain individual honors by representing the district, the state and the country in the competition will be honored with the Best Sports Person Award during our Annual Sports Day. The students of our college have set up an impressive and consistent record of performance in almost all games and sports. They take part in the Inter-Collegiate, University and various other local tournaments and won many laurels. Students will be given exemption in attendance while they represent the college in the tournaments and sports. During the tournaments our students have been exhibiting good discipline and co-operative spirit throughout.
