About

About the Department

    The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1996 with an objective of imparting commerce education to the students to equip themselves with knowledge and experience required in various industries across the nation. Moreover the department was also recognized as a research department since 2010. At present the department is offering B.Com, M.Phil., and Ph.D Programmes. The Department adopts Learner-Cantered teaching methods (Role Play, Field Visit, Group Discussion, Business Quiz, Debate and Project work). Auditors and Company Secretaries, banking Professionals and entrepreneurs are invited to the department for one to one interaction with the students so that they would also get motivated and would take efforts to become successful Professionals.

    Department organize International/National/State Level Conferences/Seminars & Workshops in order to update the domain of the students knowledge. Our team of dedicated faculty members have fairly a good number of research publications to their credit. As on date the Department has produced 34 M.Phil research scholars and 6 doctorates to its credit.

Objectives of the Department

  • To provide the knowledge of different specializations in Accounting, Costing, Banking and Finance with the practical exposure.

  • To develop a strong foundation in Career Education, Business and Consumer Affairs.

  • To provide well-trained professionals to meet the needs of Industries, Banking Sectors, Insurance Companies, Financing Companies, Transport Agencies and Warehousing.

  • To acquire the knowledge, skill in different areas of communication, decision making, innovations and problem solving in day to day business activities.

  • To develop economic aspects and citizenship responsibilities

Programme Educational Objectives

The graduates of Commerce would be

PEO1: Occupying covenant positions in Banking, Finance, Insurance and Business process service industries.

PEO2: Occupying their tasks with professionalism and with professional ethics.

PEO3: Occupying responsible citizens with social consciousness and contributing to the welfare of the society.


Programme Outcomes

After completion of three years of study, our B.Com Graduates will be able to

PO1: Exhibit proficiency in oral and written communication.

PO2: Prove their knowledge of accounting, business, taxation and financial management.

PO3: Exhibit their Technical Skills (such as word processing, Spreadsheet, Gambas 3,Accounting Package) in Auditing and Business Process Services by updating their knowledge with the upcoming new techniques.

PO4: Work on multidisciplinary tasks and will be aware of the new and emerging disciplines.

PO5: Prepare to take up any challenging task.

PO6: Apply technical skills in Analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating information to reach an answer or conclusion for complex business problems.
